What is Länsmusiken? Länsmusiken (the County Music Organization) supports, stimulates and develops the musical life in Kalmar County . We are financed by Regionförbundet (the Regional Council) and Kulturrådet (the Swedish National Council for Cultural Affairs). In 2009 Länsmusiken produced 507 musical events - 59% of these were made for children and youths. We produce and support concerts, with professional artists, for the promoters in the county, such as music associations, schools, municipalities and churches. In this work we focus on quality and diversity. We support many genres, but our main field is classical music, jazz and folk music. Together with the promoters we choose our artists among both Swedish and international musicians. Concerts and activities for children and youths are one of our most important missions. Länsmusiken also supports festivals, like Virserums Musikdagar, Barockt as well as local musical projects and activities for amateur musicians and choirs. Camerata Nordica, one of Sweden's leading chamber orchestras, is an integrated part of Länsmusiken.
